HOLIDAY UPDATE ACTIV’ LANGUES WILL BE CLOSED BETWEEN MONDAY 2nd AND FRIDAY 13th AUGUST 2010. CLASSES WILL CONTINUE AS NORMAL BEFORE AND AFTER THESE DATES.
Summer is finally here! Lots of students will soon visit foreign countries for their holidays or business trips and others will take important exams…whatever your reason for studying English, we want to ensure it’s interactive and fun!
If you can drag yourself away from the World Cup and the Tennis, we’ve planned some social activities this month and hope you will join in …
At the cinema this month:
MARATHON MAN (1976, Mystery/Drama/Thriller)
Dustin Hoffman plays Babe Levy, a Columbia University graduate student and avid runner who is haunted by the memory of his father's suicide, brought about by the McCarthy witchhunts. Babe's brother, Doc, an American secret agent, helps sneak Szell, an old Nazi, into the US from South America. Szell's brother, who has watched over a fortune in jewels taken from Jewish concentration camp victims, has died, and Szell has come to New York to collect the booty. After killing Doc, Szell uses the tools of his dentist's trade to torture Babe for information the student doesn't possess. Putting his marathon training to use, Babe escapes Szell, and eventually the pursuer becomes the pursued...
WHEN YOU'RE STRANGE (2009, Documentary)
The film reveals an intimate perspective on the four brilliant artists who made The Doors one of America’s most iconic and influential rock bands, with new insight into the revolutionary impact of its music and legacy. Directed by award-winning writer/director Tom DiCillo and narrated by Johnny Depp, the critics love it!

School Activities in July:
Friday 9th July: LANGUAGE CAFE / LANGUAGE EXCHANGE
Our new language café is the perfect way to meet socially with other Activ’ Langues students AND practice chatting with native speakers.
Last month, 12 people particpated and we had a lovely evening!
We’ll speak for 45 minutes in French and 45 minutes in English.
Everyone is welcome and nibbles/drinks are included. Meet at school at 7pm. This month’s topic: GAMES
Monday 12th July: CINEMA TRIP (Marathon Man)
Mondays can be long and tiring…why not relax in the cinema after a hard day at work? Meet outside Utopia at 7:20pm.
We can then have a drink and discuss the film in a nearby café.
Tuesday 20th June: LUNCHTIME PICNIC IN THE PARK
At 12 Noon, we’ll meet on Prairie des Filtres and have a picnic.
We can play some card games or walk along the river and enjoy the fine weather (let’s hope the sun is shining!). Friends and family are welcome.
Please bring your own picnic and refreshments.
